Local soldier Dalton Cubscutt defends Earth

The folks of Central NY can rest easy in their beds, knowing that one of their own is defending Earth from the invaders.  Dalton Cubscutt, who grew up on Strong Street, is a Lance Corporal in the US Marines.

“I always wanted to be a Marine.  My dad was a Marine, and he was always my hero.  I feel good knowing that I’m keeping people safe.”

Cubscutt is an infantryman with the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment (The Magnificent Bastards) based out of Camp Pendleton, California. His father, Owen Cubscutt, was a Gunnery Sergeant with the 1st Tank Battalion based out of Twentynine Palms, California until his retirement in 2017.

LCPL Cubscutt – who insisted we call him simply Dalton, is a quiet, humble sort who didn’t see his choice to serve as particularly heroic.  “I’m just a regular guy, you know, nothing special.  I’m honored to be a part of the greatest fighting force in the greatest nation in the world.”  Humble as he may be, he has been decorated multiple times, including the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (awarded for his efforts to organize a donation of funds and labor to Habitat for Humanity), Expert Marskmanship badges for rifle and pistol, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
